April 1982

Three weeks road learning at Toton, most of it on single unit DB975042 until it disappeared mysteriously on the last week. Here Guide Bridge Driver Norman 'Nobby' Robinson is seen here at the helm of the replacement 2 car unit, 56116 and 51124. Taken somewhere in the Hope Valley. 23rd August 1986

Having left Edale heading towards Manchester and about to plunge into the 2 mile 182 yard Cowburn Tunnel in the Hope Valley on 23rd August 1986, a 1961 built BRC&W built "MetroTrain" branded class 110 'Calder Valley' 3 car dmu set, this one being E52085 + E59696 + E52069, these were not common through here, indeed I'm sure this is the only shot I have of one! The last of the class were taken out of service in October 1989 but by then they were no longer common in the Calder Valley. Andrew J Crowther.
